Accessibility statement

We want Oukonjou to work for everyone, including people who use a screen reader or a keyboard, or whose eyes tire easily. Here is where we stand.

Our commitment

Oukonjou is a free website, published on a non-professional basis by a private individual. It does not fall into any of the cases where French law requires digital accessibility: public bodies and organisations with a public-service mission, companies with a turnover above 250 million euros and, since 28 June 2025, certain consumer services such as online shopping, banking or transport, from which microenterprises are exempt. We still choose to make it accessible to as many people as possible.

Standard we aim for

We aim to comply with the RGAA, the French accessibility framework based on the international WCAG guidelines, at level AA. Target version: RGAA 4.1.2, based on WCAG 2.1. The site will move to RGAA version 5 once it is officially published.

Compliance status

The site has not yet been audited for compliance, so we cannot give a compliance rate.

Audit date: To complete: audit date. This statement will be updated with the results.

What we have done

  • A typeface built for legibility: body text uses Atkinson Hyperlegible, whose letters are designed to be easy to tell apart, especially for people with low vision.
  • Sufficient contrast between text and background, in both themes.
  • A dark theme, for anyone who finds bright screens uncomfortable.
  • Keyboard navigation for menus, filters, search and the results list.
  • A results list that gives the same information as the map, as text.
  • Text alternatives for images and icons that carry information.

Known limitations

The interactive map remains hard to use with a screen reader: map markers do not lend themselves well to being read aloud. The results list shows the same facilities and the same information as text, and works with a screen reader as well as with a keyboard.

The base map and some content come from third-party services, whose accessibility we do not fully control.
